𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐍𝐚𝐦𝐞: Althaea officinalis

𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Demulcent, Emollient, Anti-inflammatory, Vulnerary, Soothing expectorant, Cooling diuretic. Known to soothe dry, irritated lungs and ease coughs; calms inflammation in the bladder and urinary tract; coats and protects the gut lining in cases of irritation or inflammation; and is helpful topically in compresses or poultices for dry, irritated, or inflamed skin.*

𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:

Generally considered very safe, including for children and during pregnancy.

Cold infusions are ideal for preserving mucilage content, while hot infusions provide mild anti-inflammatory benefits. 

⚠️ It may slow the absorption of medications due to its mucilage coating, so it is best taken 1–2 hours apart from other remedies.
